Jaguar Show

I went to a Jaguar show in Sudbury recently. The event was the 2022 Concours d'Elegance, and it was put on by the Jaguar Association of New England (JANE). I don't know much about Jaguar vehicles, so I didn't really understand all the different models or the history, but I still found some fun photos to take of these very stylish cars. Naturally, they were playing some Jaguar and other car songs through the speaker system while I was there; most were British groups, including Beatles songs. The Jaguar's British heritage was the *one* thing I previously knew about for sure.

Greenhouse Winter Warmth

Deb and I recently visited nearby Weston Nurseries' greenhouse to enjoy a brief respite from the cold winter weather. While Deb perused the plants in the greenhouse, I was drawn to the orchids on display, and one wooden sculpture.

Whether or not the center of orchids resembles small people, skiers, angels, or something else, you can decide; regardless, I find their design a natural wonder. These are all Pixel 4a cell phone pics.

Dragonfly Festival 2016 Take Two

After reviewing my photos from yesterday's Dragonfly Festival, I decided several more are blogworthy, and therefore decided this follow-on post was in order.

In addition I meant to mention in yesterday's post that conditions were not particularly ideal for taking photos: bright sunny day it was not, at least during the time Deb and I visited the Festival. Usually it rains a little before it rains a lot, but not yesterday. We were treated to a rare "instant deluge" of rain! Fortunately, most vendors had tent tops, and most of the Festival attendees made their way quickly under the nearest tent when the deluge began. I was able to do the same, though not until my camera equipment managed to get a little wet. Fortunately, my gear is designed to be "weatherproof", so after a quick wipe off, and waiting for the rain to stop, I was able to continue my photo taking.

As mentioned, the darker skies created extra difficulty for some of my shots. Many photos in yesterday's post and this post are at ISO 3200 and ISO 6400. Also, unlike my photos at last year's Dragonfly Festival, this year I decided to take many with my 75-300mm (150-600mm equivalent) telephoto lens. So, while I could "bring the action in closer" for my shots, a few of them were not quite as sharp as I'd like since highly zoomed shots normally require much faster shutter speeds and that's hard to do successfully on a dark day, where one needs to let as much light in through the lens as possible.

This next photo is the only one in this post taken with my 12-40mm lens.

Patterns in Nature

Still doing some catchup blogging here. This collection reflects a few different photo outings.

This is a miniature horse I passed during a walk in a neighborhood with which I was not familiar. The horse was a welcome surprise. I had not anticipated passing any farm animals on this particular stroll.
This is taken with my Nexus 5x cell camera.

These next three sunset shots were taken - you will not believe this - from the parking lot at Trader Joe's.  I stepped out from grocery shopping and was greeted with this amazing orange sky. These are taken w/my Nexus 5x. Need I mention it was even better in person? At least you get an idea from the photos.
