July 2022 Blooms

Below are photos of some July blooms, all taken in our garden.
Plus one bee.

Here's that bee on butterfly weed:

Always a standout every year, the very "tropical" looking crocosmia is pictured below. I got a kick out of this partial description of crocosmia on Wikipedia: "They have colourful inflorescences of 4 to 20 vivid red and orange subopposite flowers on a divaricately (horizontally) branched stem."

May 2022 Blooms

These are various May blooms, all from our garden, except for a few of the dogwoods and the violets, which were photographed in the neighborhood during one of my regular walks.

Shown are fruit trees (cherry, crab), dogwoods, Camas lily, mountain bluet, violets, and irises.

Greenhouse Winter Warmth

Deb and I recently visited nearby Weston Nurseries' greenhouse to enjoy a brief respite from the cold winter weather. While Deb perused the plants in the greenhouse, I was drawn to the orchids on display, and one wooden sculpture.

Whether or not the center of orchids resembles small people, skiers, angels, or something else, you can decide; regardless, I find their design a natural wonder. These are all Pixel 4a cell phone pics.

Take a look below.

I neglected to take note of the name of the artist who made the wood sculpture shown in these next two photos. My apologies to the artist. (After that is determined, I'll update this blog.)

Spring Collection

Here's an assortment of photos, mostly taken during the colorful month of May.

This first photo is a cell phone "portrait mode" shot. This mode often works as well for flowers as for people!

These next two photos are of the arrangement Deb made that I mentioned in my prior post.

Attack from the Space Pods

An earlier post, "Spring Happenings Continued", shows this same robin's nest with four eggs. Alas, three had since disappeared, leaving this solo egg. Sad to say, this egg didn't make it either. Evidently, it is sometimes a tough task for birds' eggs to survive "in the wild."

This is a special lilac with very tiny blooms. This entire photo is about one inch of blossoms wide!

Here's an echinacea center with the colorful blooms not yet developed. You'll be able to see the brilliant red bloom in a later post.
