Mist Suspension

It caught my attention when I saw late day sun streaming in through a window lighting up mist expelling from a humidifier. The mist made some pleasant patterns in the air. I tried to capture some of that with my camera. These are taken with my 60mm lens. See the results below.

I was initially surprised when first viewing these photos that I could see distinct points of water visible within the mist. They are not normally noticeable to the naked eye. Perhaps this is due, in part, to the camera's relatively fast shutter speed of 1/1200 to 1/1600 second that I used to create these photos.

Color in the Sun

Mother nature sure knows how to put on a display. In bright sun, spring flowers impress and entrance. They pull me in to get a closer look, to enjoy their intricate and elegant design.

Here's a sample of some of my recent favorites of flowers that burst with color, especially when graced with warm sun.

All but one of these irises are bearded irises. Photos are taken with my 12-40mm and my 60mm lenses.

Enjoy!

Inviting Iris

These next two photos were taken indoors, on our windowsill, with the morning sun streaming in:

Back outside, this iris shows a pleasing color combination:

The only non-iris in this post, this is an allium, not yet fully bloomed:

One Spring Day

Sun-drenched blossoms are some of my favorite subjects.

These photos were taken one spring day when our garden was glowing with the late afternoon sun.

Drenched in Light

Deb's indoor plant arrangements just inside our kitchen window were glowing in the morning sunlight. In these photos I had some fun capturing the strong morning light as it passed through the glasses and water. While the flowers themselves are lovely, these photos highlight other aspects of the arrangement.

These are all taken with my macro lens.

More Crocosmia

Here are several more crocosmia photos. What an alive colorful plant this is!

When lit up in the sun, I'm drawn to photograph it.

All photos taken handheld with my macro lens using natural light.

Enjoy!

Upside Down in the Sun

Relatively early one spring day, I was out in our yard taking a close look at some Solomon's Seal we have in our garden. The sun was hitting this particular patch just right. As I peered under the leaves I found a bee hard at work relocating pollen as was his calling.

I grabbed my camera, macro lens attached, and took these photos.

Half Moon Bay

Our final day of our recent visit to California included some sights in and around Half Moon Bay.

Here are photos taken just north of Half Moon Bay at Maverick's Beach, which is a destination for big-wave surfers. While we didn't see any surfers, likely due to the low tide, we enjoyed the rock formations and tide pools.

Morning Sun

I'm the first to admit that most of my "Golden Hour" shots are the setting sun golden hour. Getting up early to see that other oft heard about sunrise golden hour is not normally part of my routine.

Today I was up early and found the morning sun's rays too photogenic to pass up. I grabbed these shots before I went on the road.

All taken hand-held with my 60mm (120mm equiv.) lens.

We *love* our Paperbark maple tree!
