This post shows some views of a very healthy bleeding heart plant in our garden. This year it is more productive than ever. All the bleeding hearts seem happy:)

Parrot Tulips and More

Parrot tulips are more "flamboyant" than most common tulips. Their petals have a unique fringe design with scalloped edges. They're a delight both outdoors and indoors.

The photos in this post are mostly black parrot tulips, which are a deep purple color. When strongly lit, the petals look more red.

This is such a photogenic tulip that I've included several different views here. I've also included a few other flower photos and one frog to break up the set as you scroll through.

This first photo was taken on an indoor windowsill.

One Spring Day

Sun-drenched blossoms are some of my favorite subjects.

These photos were taken one spring day when our garden was glowing with the late afternoon sun.

Enjoy!

Cemetery Visit

One my favorite walks takes me to the local cemetery. Not only is it a peaceful place to visit, but as I meander along the paths beside the gravestones, I appreciate the many plantings atop the gravesites placed by loved ones, along with the trees and landscaping of the graveyard itself.

On this Memorial Day blog post, I've put together some photos from a few recent graveyard visits.

Mourning Doves

While looking out our kitchen window, I noticed a Mourning Dove decided to visit us. It was sitting on our deck railing, and appeared to be in no hurry to leave. I grabbed my camera and started taking photos through the window glass. Since the window was closed, the bird didn't hear or notice my presence at all, and continued contentedly on the railing for a while, long enough so that his/her mate(?) came to visit as well, and from all appearances, they had a conversation.

All photos are taken with my 60mm (macro) lens through window glass, so while they are not as sharp as my usual standards, the effect of the glass wasn't too detrimental, and I was still able to take some shots worth keeping.

I don't normally think of Mourning Doves as being particularly colorful birds, but this pair let me see their true colors. For that I am grateful.

Enjoy!
